Hi,

I'm looking for a readymade perl webmail app that will connect to multiple pop3 accounts and allow mail to be read without downlaoding it from the pop3 server. It must also be able to send mail using the sendmail thing and not smtp (I have no smtp server, just /usr/bin/sendmail thing). I would like it to be compatible with html email and support attachments.

Does anyone know of any such apps? I have found a few through googling but they all seem a bit crap in one way or another - Ideally I'm looking for a free program that is reasonably bug free and user friendly (like movabletype blog, but for webmail)

Please post links and comments regarding this, I would like your guidance and opinions.

Thanks,

Jon

The best perl webmail app that I've used is Gossamer Mail. It should be able to do everything you want and then some. It's not free, good luck finding something like this for free.

p.s. It does download the mail from the POP3 server (it has to or you wouldn't be able to read it) but you have the option to leave the messages on the server as well.

Hello,

I personally worked w/ : http://www.webbasedemail.com/index.ehtml and I liked it.
The support people are very nice too, they can assist you to install it and answer all your questions promptly...
However this software is a bit expensive.

Ok, well thanks guys those apps look great, but I have no money and don't feel like ripping them off at the moment. I could use a php based solution, or infact i think i could use a webmail program that uses any of the usual linux apache type scripting languages.

Come on guys, I know you'll come up trumps with this soon.

lallous: ok i think openwebmail looks good enough and does all i need it too, trouble is I don't have a clue how to install it! I found a garbled txt file on the website that seems to suggest it may be the installation instructions but jesus christ, it's really bloody confusing! I don't even have a cgi-bin, my host lets me run cgi files from any directory, I'm so confused. And why is it 14mb? what can I cut out that i don't need? all the language packs presumably (i only need english), plus I think the sounds are probably unnecessary too.

Basically I need somedbody to help me install it, I can give you you my file structure and server file structure and stuff like that, but I really need a clear set of installation instructions. Please can someone help?
