Hello Doc,
we coders are getting into a stage where we have to do testing with a lot of sample data.
So far we've been using a portland account, but honestly, it's getting on my nerves :-). It's slow, unreliable, and their server seems to particulary dislike me... maybe it can't see my face anymore since I'm the main carrier of bad news (more files for it).

Anyhow, do you think we can have a subdirectory of the pspong.com server to play in? I promise we'll not break it. :-)

Oh, and the serverside code will be probably ready by Jan 13th. Since I'm on vacation till then, I have lot's of sparetime on my hands :-)

so long,

I agree with TP - due to various problems I'm rushing to catch up and do something useful but TP has stormed ahead with the server side coding and it is all looking good. TP is also right that the Portland account isn't great and things have come on to a degree where it would be best to provide access to the actual server rather than messing around on the Portland one (esp. as there are issues that need to be worked on like uploading and using GD for thumbnails).

Knock knock knock...

Hello? Is this thing on? I think we need to organize a Search and Rescue for Doc!

if I stop at the gas station, to get, well gas, and coffee, I can drive to Sweden in hm... (*math*) 12 hours? + 1 hour for breaks.

No, I have not heard from the doc today, nor yesterday. Maybe I'm reading all the wrong posts :-)

If he's still MIA in a few days, I'll make an executive decision. But until then....

sure. we don't have a real userinterface anyway (although, with the extremly crude html interface I'm currently wipping up, we can play in a day or three :-) )

Pugzly: In this thread:
www.ozoneasylum.com/Forum1/HTML/003347.html

The Doc popped up to say he wasn't on form at the moment (SAD? It must be tricky in those northern latitudes) so it might be a while longer before he pops in and gives his consent to go ahead. As I assume you hold the keys and TP is pretty advanced on the coding (and enthusiastic!!) and still has a week free I can't see there being much harm in giving him the go ahead. However, its your call.

did I mention that I was able to play a game with myself on my home PC today for the very first time?
It works. Yuhu! now, only another 50.000 lines of code and... :-)

well, the Doc seems to be back. At least I saw some posts from him today. So I'm writing this, in order to get the post pushed up to the top :-)

It should be worth pointing out that it looks like TP has got the server side code to a position where an actual game can be played (although the interface isn't going to look great until the layout is decided upon) and now would seem like a good time to move it over to the actual PSPong space for discrete testing. Good idea, bad idea Doc (I hope it doesn't come across like we are hassling you - a 'lets give it more time' would just let us know the time scale a little better)?

TP: HTML/CSS/JavaScript skeleton is uploaded (see email) and it is all sliced into includes so it should be flexible enough for whatever layout is decided upon!!

Okay - this weekend I'm going to get this straightened out. I promise. We'll get a couple of people going on the back end.

Pugzly: Thanks. I think we'd all like the Doc's approval for the move but as the first round of serverside code is done it makes sense to get it testing in its final home.
