Well, I have my entry for this month's sig contest all ready to go, except for one slight problem. The animation should run at 20 frames per second, and it does run at 20 fps in Netscape, but in IE 6 it slows down to 10 fps. I've tried everything, but I can't get a faster frame rate than 10 fps in IE. I know this can be done because my toaster animation from two months ago has one frame in there that goes by pretty fast--I'm pretty sure it's at least 20 fps (or maybe I just thought it was). |

Not sure if this helps, but I had a similar problem and resolved it by setting the frame delay for each frame. If I remember correctly, NN reads animations differently than IE, so if the delays aren`t specified they run at different speeds. |

db: Thanks for the advice (and the congrats). Unfortunately, I think I've got a different problem on my hands. I tried setting the frame rate for each separate frame a number of times; I started with 50 fps and worked my way down until what I was seeing in the preview screen matched what I was seeing in IE, and it ended up being 10 fps. I remember running into this problem before and somehow solving it, but I don't remember how. I have a sinking feeling that I didn't do anything special, it just suddenly decided to work. So I guess I'll mess around with it some more and maybe it will catch. Or something. I don't know. quote:

Well Master Suho, are you using ImageReady to do the animation? I do know that Netscape is much faster with Ani .Gifs than IE... |

Actually, I'm using the GIF Construction Set from Alchemy Mindworks. That's pretty much all I can say right now, considering I don't have full control of all of my faculties right now (graduation==heavy drinking). I will see if I can set the delay to 0, although this will most likely have to be done tomorrow. Thanks all. |

By any chance is your GIF is very big ? it could just be running as fast as it can display .. maybe ? |

It's pretty large for a sig, but it's not that big. It's smaller than Drac's sig (the one in this month's contest), for example. At this point I'm considering going back and tweaking it a bit so it looks smoother at 10 fps, and then making it 10 fps from the start (so I get the same results in both IE and Netscape). Like I said, it still works at that speed, but it just aggravates me that it doesn't work the way I want it to. And it looks much nicer at 20 fps. *Sigh* |
