It looks pretty good. Did you get the ball from the repeat performance thingy?

I think the porthole looks really good, but the animation is very jerky. It needs to flow more smoothly.

Platyjim, yep its the ball thing from repeat perfomances, I just use the same backdrop I made for my entry.

Well I fixed jerk at the end, and made it overall slightly longer. Still under 25k so that should I think I will move on.

Not sure who of or extent of the copyright on the ball thingy, hope no buddy minds it is after majorly modified.

The animation is a bit smoother but now I'm just reminded of Journey to the Center of the Earth on the return voyage. Either that or a sub in a rockfall. I think the animation is all that needs work though. The rest of it looks good. Maybe not so.... hmmm... involved? More of a still scene with things moving into and out of view? Nice work though.

Nice work JstuarJ, although me thinks the animation be sort of horizontal to convey motion? and not an unending dive maybe...

Honestly, it looks like a washing machine. There's too few frames in the animation to really give a clear sense of direction, so it just looks like everything is going around in a circle. I would try adding some more frames and maybe simplifying things of it gets too big.

Thanks for the comments, I will give it another try. The problem I am having is getting it to loop with a jump. I might try to do a frame above the surface and under water strait down to the sea floor, and then back to the surfaces. But may run into size issues.

Another idea is to just simply it and animate just the bubbles, with a static under water seen.

I would go with just animating the bubbles, if I were you. Attempting to go from the surface down to the bottom and back up again would make it a huge image. You should be able to get animated bubbles with a small number of frames, though.

Two of them are latches. Only one hinge.

One more try with just the bubble moving forward. I originally intended to use only Photoshop & ImageReady but got lazy and just did the bubbles with Lightwave.

a lot better. but the porthole isn't in front so the bubbles
can't move against the hole can it?

make them moving sidesteps and you're a relly good
looking signature :]

The porthole is in front on many submersibles.

I just realize that I put a hinge on a submarine porthole? Far to much work to fix now, and it looks good.I'll just pretend there is a second glass plate on the outside and the hinge is for cleaning.

Or maybe the porthole can be opened when it is in dry dock... just trying to help you out here.

I like the latest version. I really like the porthole. How did you animate the bubbles? ImageReady or some other app. Nice work.

Thanks for the comments.

The porthole was drawn by hand at 2x2 inchs at 300ppi, then scaled down.

Type in illustrator

Bubbles rendered in Lightwave. Just 1 particle emitter, on the z access and hypervoxels. Basicly white sphere on a black background, rendered to a 60 frame quicktime mov. Then it was just a matter of loading it into ImageReady using evey 4th frame adding a colored background, masks, and set the blend mode of the bubble layers to screen. Then just overlay the porthole and type.

Ta da, instant underwater scene.
