Generally, if it's been a couple weeks since a post to it, it can go. If it's just a bunch of nonsense, or if it's one of those constantly repeated questions, or things like that, then there's no need to archive it...just delete it. If it's closed, I'd say give it a day or two....seeing as we tend tio have threads opened/closed farily frequently.
