It would probably be a good idea to to make the page with the IP address also find and match similar IP address (along with the member that posted it) in the asylum going back, say, 3 days?

PS: Its an idea other people have mentioned and I suppose it might be quite a bit of hassle to do but it would slightly impair people's right to have multiple personalties (hmmm that is the kind of statement that could only be made in an Asylum). Basically:

1. We haven't had a problem spotting who the person is so far.

2. Its not too much hassle to copy and paste the address it into:
www.samspade.org/t
http://visualroute.visualware.com

I was thinking of making a quick form that would allow one to submit a URL to samspade from the GN and I suppose it would be no hassle to add a feature whereby it got passed in through the URL too so that the Asylum could hook into that from here.

I think I've said it before but the feature I'd most like is to be given the new address when something is archived (I often do a sweep through the FAQ and archive old threads linked in from there and it would speed things up when I'm going through a lot of threads).

I heard that... Dbob and I were talking about that last night...

wouldn't be that hard... just adding a print statement in the generated html...

but, I dunno... it seems easier.... well, I guess doc can do it [searching the IPs] and it's not a problem..

PS: You are right and it might speed things up a tad but being able to crosscheck IPs would get a little Big Brother (technically I don't have a problem with that but I know some people might and the Doc seemed a little reluctant to have IP checking as a permanent feature).

I'm also not sure how much extra help it would be - there is either some kind of preceeding toolery or the individual is from outside the Asylum just out to cause trouble.
