some nerves...going thru some hard times
right now and i could really relate to the lyrics.

and i like the graphics on the site..but again, there's no accounting for tastes.

WS:
Rush??? are they still alive?

You are right, never heard of them. However, looks interesting...we'll have to see if Frank Marino really is as good as they say...

As for Rush...not sure if they are still producing music...but the music that they did produce is, IMHO some of the best to come out of Canada...oh, and don't forget The Band...

I hear the lead singer of Nickleback had someone stopped a gig because someone flipped him the bird and had the person thrown out which isn't very 'rock'. How you remind me was big here but it was pitched in a way that it would touch those kind of nerves in most people. The lead singer did 'Hero' from the new Spiderman film and although I've only heard snatches of it but that won't stop me from thinking it is pretty dire. The whole thing about this band strikes me that they have been carefully targetted to be a bit hairy and edget enough to make people into rock listen to them but bland enough that they appeal to aging professionals (esp. advertising executives) but perhaps I'm being cynical - I quite liked how you remind me - it sort of reminded me of a girl I once knew sort of.

Just my opinion though.

I totally agree with DL.

I heard that they were supposed to go on a big tour with Creed and Seven Mary Three until it was realized that they were all the same band... that and they sucked more ass than a proctologist with a Hoover.

Odd behavior; even temperament...

except everything after Clumsy is fucking wretched.

Okee, The Teeth Party...oops. Hey is Jeff still channeling Jim Morrions's dead soul?

Hmm, better yet, I mother Earth.

Oh wait..Edwin The Ego left the band to start making crap...nevermind.

As for Nickelback, I can only exclaim WHY GOD WHY?!?! They come from Hanna Alberta, where my grandfather still lives...apparently a neighbour used to babysit two of them. Chad's an obnoxious ass by all accounts...so there ya go.

Anyone want to just go listen to The Hip for a while and remember the days?...hehe

{edit} DG: I know most of Canada very well but never been
to "in media rea". where is that?. i've been to dia rea. i've
even had dia rea on occasion after bad mexican food, but never media rea...although
if you mean "mass media" i can see the gastrointestinal connection.

gordon lightfoot, now nickelback (try playing their cds backwards)
The only way you can identify us is because we say "eh" about
10 times per spoken paragraph...eh?

p.s. tried to get tickets for the Stones in Jan 2003! but
they were $300 Cdn (about $200 U.S.) and that is like
way too expensive for us...so we got Santana in August instead!

nickleback sucks. the only thing that sucks more than nickleback is when the lead singers from nickleback and saliva get together and do a tune for the spiderman sountrack. hero, if it isnt allready making your ears bleed daily on your local radio then wait five minutes, it will. around here you can skip around through all the major stations and hear both of the aformentioned multiple times per day. on occasion you can even catch the same song at almost the same place on two different stations. i am all for canadian bands making it big but it would be nice to have a day when i didnt have to hear it.

There's not a lot of music out there these days, American, Canadian or what have you that I find at all entertaining. If it's not redundant, it's already been done better.
IMHO of course. Everyone's entitled to one you know.

I really like most stuff released prior to 1995, after you shake the wheat from the chaffe. But these new artists are gonna have to try REALLY hard to impress me.

Rush, The Band, The Allman Brothers, The Grateful Dead, Bad Co., the list goes on and on... All great musicians in their own right. But as long as music has been around, it's tough stuff trying to do something new. I've one recently famous artist that I can really get into, and that's Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. He has taken a little rap, a little soul, a little reggae, and a little rock and mixed them up into some of the best music I've ever heard. Anyone interested in checking him out, try here. He is THE MAN! There's a few tracks under discography that you can listen to on the web...
