Great debate - you guys have clearly put an awful lot of time, energy and thought into this. Its all the more interesting as there is no killer blow that can be delivered - it is impossible to prove that God (in whatever way you want to define the term) doesn't exist and there is no good evidence (that I've ever seen) that they do. Which, of course, makes this whole debate thing so much more interesting

Well so far I have only skimmed through, but tonight I plan on taking about 1-2 hours of reading that entire page and then maybe if I am lucky I will post something tonight, if not surely tommorow.

This is interesting. I'm annoyed at myself to not be able to keep everything everyone says in my head all at once, it's all very heavy - lots of stuff to keep track of.

I was taught as a child that God exists, so I'm slightly biased in that direction, I suppose. Lots of Bugimus' arguments are very familiar to me... I think a lot of people draw from CS Lewis. But I must say, I don't like that last argument, the one about the fact that we have a consience dictating the existance of a god who gave it to us. I think that particular argument is based on lots of things which aren't necessarily proveable... sort of opinion. In a sense. I can't put my finger on why, but it just seems weak somehow.

On the other hand, Bug's rebuttal to that quote that Web Shaman gave about Hawking's wave theory or whatever it was was convincing.

I've heard these debates so often (mainly from a biased viewpoint) that the arguments presented are rarely new to me. It's just that there are so many arguments both ways that it always seems like I'll never be able to review them all and come to my own conclusion. It annoys me that so much could hang on which side is right, yet exploring both sides of the argument thouroughly is so near impossible that I have little choice but to continue believing what I've been taught to believe, unable to really make a solid decision.

Ugh. Now I'm all choked up. =) This makes my javascript raytracer seem like such a waste of time =\

The people that wrote the bible were the same people that told us the earth was flat.

If you want the last word in an argument, say, "You're right."

Silly me, I forgot to say hello to everyone. I was drawn into this site and I can't log off.

"Heck" is where people go that don't believe in "Gosh"

If you want the last word in an argument, say, "You're right."

Slime: I never actually thought of C.S. Lewis as a source of information in the debate, the main person that I have been reading from is Josh McDowell, who writes books to prove the existence of God.

Ah. Yup. C.S. Lewis did a lot of this sort of stuff too.

I'm locking this thread, since all further comments should go here.
