Not to trivialize this, but what else is new?

Seriously, you want to feel anti-American sentiment? Come to Korea and walk around Seoul with me. I can't even go downtown at night anymore.

Yes...I saw that report in Florida...very interesting. I think that Ms. Albright did a very good job of explaining why that is...a bright person, she (no pun intended...). As the sole remaining superpower, we are of course going to take the brunt of the blame for most of the problems in the world, whether or not it's true. Before, the US split such reactions with the USSR. Also, due to the Cold War, many countries (especially those that were used to 'play out' cold war scenarios) have reminates of bad feelings against not only the US, but also the USSR. However, the USSR has tumbled from the position of a Super power, and is no longer 'in the lime light'. Thus, these feelings fall on the US. 'You reap what you sow'.

And the Bush administration has not helped matters, no, not at all. At present, the US is not being very sympatic, especially where the rest of the world is concerned. The attempts to 'ram' Americanism down the throats of most of the world is not going down well. Also, when one considers, that America does consume almost 80% of the worlds raw resources, and fosters a condition in many countries of 'have nots', and sets so-called 'glass ceilings' for developing third world countires, it shouldn't be surprising that many resent that.

However, the mere fact, that America is interested in what the rest of the world thinks about the US, is relieving. To solve a problem, one first needs to know that it exists. Though I do not trust the Bush administration with the ability to solve any of these problems, it is somewhat comforting to know that the US is interested in knowing, and solving if possible, some of the roots of these resentments. Of course, some cannot be solved. Well, that's world politics. Some always dislike, or even hate, the top-dog, irregardless of stance. It is often much easier to lay the blame elsewhere...humans have been doing that for thousands of years...

Time will tell. I would hope, that the US government will keep in mind, that America will not be top-dog forever. So maybe we should tred a bit more...thoughtfully, on others...after all, who knows what the future will bring...that little no-name country, that we have run roughshod over, could turn out to be the next superpower. Imagine that.

If you are able to get out and travel to other countries, you will eventually see some of that animosity first hand. No survey needed to tell you that you're not well liked.

Was in Greece for a port call couple of years ago. (When I was in Marine Corps) I was on shore patrol (keeping an eye on all the drunk Marines and Sailors) and so was in uniform. A couple of older local teens drove by on mopeds and spit on me and tried to hit me (barely missing). Later in the evening they kept harassing us (two other guys were with me) from afar. It was actually really scary and unnerving.

So, yeah, folks out there in the world don't like us none too well ...
