This battle reminds me of St Agustines "City of God" which describes the soul as two cities, which in essence describes the souls desires of the flesh's in seeking what is of not good and how good works with evil to achieve a goodness. For example, if you are in bad drugs or an alcholic and in a downwhirl sprial, which could make you loose family, friends, jobs, etc. You experience all the ugliness of these vices after you detox or come clean. Afterwards you never want to go that way again. So out of evil came some good. |

The first thing that came to my mind was the Apostle Paul's famous run-on sentence along these same lines. The struggle between our human nature and our consciences seems to be one of the more obvious experiences we all share as human beings. |

Well jade, just because something was written over 2000+ years ago, doesn't mean that it is the only source of such wisdom - as my people (and many others) have proved. Many sources of such wisdom are old, very old. It only proves that Mankind hasn't changed all that much, nothing more. |
