Good old Bush Jr. decided that, since the budget is running low, and we haven't caught Osama or Hussein, that it might look good to be able to get up in front of the nation and say, in his State of the Union address, that he has just saved the federal goverment (!and YOU!) assloads of money by "streamlining the federal goverment." What he really means is: We've contracted out all the IT jobs to small companies in order to make it LOOK like we've saved money by cutting the federal workforce. Oh yay! So, now we have thousand of unemployed federal workers running around collecting unemployment because Bush doesn't want to look like a total and complete waste of political power. |

Umm, I think that Bush has never really been a good speaker, but that you should also learn a little more about the way he works too. I don't mean that to be rude or insulting and I hope I didn't sound that way. But I think you should consider looking into the way the government works a tad more. |

Actually, thats the general buzz around my Dad's office, it's not just me being an ignorant asshole. I know a BUNCH of people from all around the country that are getting contracted out so that Bush looks good. |

Well I can't really speak on this subject, I don't know much about it. But all I can say is if Bush has done something this measurable it probably had a purpose. |

InSiDeR, heres how it goes. Lets say that for each office, you have 15 people being payed 50-150,000 annually. Well, if your budget looks bad, as a president, by cutting those jobs you could say that you saved X amount. With IT jobs all over the country, it adds up quickly. It also lets you say that you have "streamlined the federal workforce," which more of less means that you've hired contract workers (who probably aren't as trained or skilled at the job) to do the jobs so that Bush can say: "We have saved X amount on the federal budget by streamlining the federal workforce." |
