Gabriel.....i think it's bad manners to post a Topic then not to respond to some of the queries.
Anyway personally i think the world is coming to an end....the more i read Revelations..the more convinced i get.
Who's heard of Bible codes?

I have and I think they are a Crock of Sh*t if you ask me. They are running mathematical computation looking for words/phrases on a text that has 17 different versions and are coming up with words that didn't even exist when the book was written, or if they did exist they meant different things. Not to mention that they aren't working with the original language the book was written in. Yes, Yes, in God's omniscience he could have aimed for us to find this information now and understand it as it came about now but it's just too much for someone who doesn't necessarily believe in a higher 'sentient' power.

Yep I agree with GD - the Bible Codes are rubbish and you can make them say whatever you want them to.

I read a book about Christian Science that my cousin had that talked about that. They came to the conclusion that it's crap also, except for one thing: If you go into the original texts their is a repeated mathematical patern of 7. I'll try to dig it up for ya.

I have to completely agree that there is nothing to the so called "bible codes". I suppose it would be pretty convincing stuff if it were real but I just don't see it. I am far more convinced of the worth/veracity of the scriptures by other qualities.

Hmmmm.... Methinks Gabriel was Jade's husband and he's pissed because she's asking him questions about her faith to get answers (I believe she sasid he was a minister). She's looking for a way to deepen her faith and he's seeing it as doubting her faith. So he showed up, posted, saw what came back, and told her to stay away.

Has anyone seen her here recently? I sort of miss her (WOW... I really do ). She was just starting to realize what I was trying to communicate to her. It would have been interesting to hear her viewpoints on the Bible Code as well. Are there any supporters of the bible code around? I'd like to hear some reasons that people believe in it.

If Gabriel was jade's husband then he would probably be a Catholic too, right? The Gabriel of this thread sounding anything but Catholic to me.

Really? I guess I don't know whow to make that determination. His dogged return to the bible and refusal to hear anything that isn't what he wants to hear sounds pretty catholic to me. I was one for 14 years. I seem to remember being that way once. The only thing I can think of that you might be drawing on is his statement about God being beyond the human mind to comprehend and that contradicting the sanctity of the Pope.

That's an interesting conclusion, Bug's. How did you get there? Truly curious, not condescending. Yes, Gabriel would be catholic if he were Jade's husband. I just don't see anything that points to any other religion specifically or, more to the point, specifically points away from catholicism.

Primarily his "dogged return to the bible". He said,

quote:
Maybe some of you should try reading ALL of the Bible and living it, before you judge anything.

and

quote:
Maybe you should just try out the Bible..all of it....

I would not expect to get this much emphasis on the Bible in one paragraph with no mention of the co-equal weight the the Holy See from the Roman Catholics I have known. In fact, I have always felt a great reluctance to mention such things in the discussions I've had. I think part of that reluctance comes from the need for distinguishing between the "fundies" that attack them so often for not being Sola Scriptura. That's just my gut feel on this, I would love for Gabriel to jump back in here and set us straight

I think we have come across a new type of cyber-being in this thread...First we had the Troll, then the Anarchist-Troll...now we have the Ultra-Conservative-Religious-Troll.

Hey GD. Happy Friday. Thanks for missing me. I missed u too.

Nope. Gabe isn't my hubby. Maybe you can lure him back someway.

Have been super busy. In the mist of having some remodeling done to my house and a new gunite pool in my back yard all at the same time. Its done and so nice. Will have to send a pic with me in my pool if I can ever figure how to do it. Anyway, the pool people cut my phone lines so haven't had access to my computer. Now I am super busy getting my desk caught up. When I can get my thoughts together and can devote my concentration to the ozone to catch up, I will be back. Lots of love Jade Theresa.

He is probably just some religious guy who goes around to different forums posting the same exact thing over and over again in different locations, and then moving on.

I remember emailing a couple of bomb-throwers before and they never answered me either. I think it just demonstrates that they are either incapable or unwilling to defend their own positions. It's a shame really.

COnsidering the ferverence of his one and only post in this thread and the lack of evidence contained therein, I'd go more for the unable angle rather than the unwilling.

Dang it... I really wanted to try out my "rules of engagement" as they were. Maybe I'll plop them in my cell. Heh.

quote:
Statements of beliefs are not to be geared towards conversion. This defeats the purpose of open minded, educational discussion.

No one is to be told that they are wrong in their beliefs. This just creates angst and strife between those few who wish to attack each other and disrupts the learning of the willing. Condemnation is not accepted.

For the same reasons as above, no name calling, bashing or vulgarity. These are all disruptive to the discussion and cause tempers to flare. Please keep it to a minimum.

NO EXCESSIVE QUOTING - Open minded discussion requires statements of belief and an understanding of other beliefs. There can be no understanding if someone elses words are used. It gives no real information about the person speaking.

NO EXCESSIVE EDITING - It is hard to follow what someone is saying when what they have said keeps changing. Typos are expected and usually easy to work through. Too many times have I seen entire posts deleted because of embarassment or persecution. I would prefer that people speak their minds and stand up for what they believe.

Anyone have any additions?
