I'm usually not too squeamish about things like this... but something about removing someone's face kind of gives me the creeps

Indeed.

I have no problem donating my organs after death to help someone live, but even in death, I'd kinda like to keep my face, if it's still intact.

Well, it is weird... but you know, the person receiving the face wouldn't necessarily look like the donor. A lot of one's facial features are made up from the bone structure beneath one's skin - not the skin itself. The skin tone would be the same, hair color also likely, but the shape would definitely be different...

My first reaction is "Eww! Freaky!" But on the whole, it will probably help a lot of people - especially in appearance dominated societies, such as the US. Of course, you know it moves beyond that after people begin to accept the practice... Think about the applications for things like, Federal Witness Protection programs and such... And then it becomes the next big thing for celebrities...

If they can pull it off, great. (pun not intended)

I think it's interesting however that people have reservations about giving/receiving a face, but no problems with other pieces of anatomy. (broad generalization I know: I know there are those out there that have reservations about any transplant. ) I just find it fascinating, I guess.

Well, for lack of a better explanation, yes.

Actually I reckon Mr. Jacson has a mental disorder (and I hear the cries of 'But we knew that already!') called 'Facial Displasia' (sp?). he basically saw there was something wrong with his face, and went out ot have it fixed. And now mo matter how much surgery he has, despite that fact he's just making things worse and worse, despite reality basically, he still see's whatever it was that he thinks is wrong, and so he still strives to have it corrected

The easiest way to solve that problem is to wear a bag over your head and stop looking in the mirror...

Just imagine the shock of your family when they pass the coffer and look at your faceless body.

One would hope the family had the sense to either cremate the donor, or have a closed casket funeral! Eww!
