Topic awaiting preservation: When Democracy Failed

I ran across this and thought it was insightful (read: scary); not sure if it?s been posted before.

I actually had to read it twice for it to sink in, when I first read it I didn?t actually know what it was relating to, or even what it was really about.

Wow... that's interisting... Kinda makes you think...

I did find it funny that they're comparing B**h to Hitler...

Why?

There are a great deal of paralells.

People are often afraid to make comparsions between Hitler and anyone else, but you have to remember that there was a long slow path that lead to Hitler's eventual plan.

It didn't start with bloodthirsty evil and total control.

It was built up to that, through careful manipulation of the public - much like what we have going on here in the US.

I only skimmed that article, so I can't really say how factual it all is at the moment....but the real paralells exist.

I find it far more frightening than I do funny. How easy it would be for the US to plunge into the same murky depths that so many people have before...

I skimmed the article last night. My initial thoughts were that it is very easy for any of our societies to plunge into despotism and we must always be guarding against it. But it would be a huge mistake to limit this concern to the Bush administration. There are other factions at work in our countries that should cause similar concern.

But I do beleive that the current administration has been one of the most blatant and dangerous so far. Quite possibly more due to the puppet-ness of Bush than to any evil plans of his own (which takes a step away from the Hitler analogy of course...)
