Does anyone know where to get free maps in eps-format?
Especially I want a map of europe.

Well I don't know what format they may have. But here is a big list of mapping resources. Some links are broken but it may help. I will keep looking as I love maps and topographical data. So I will let you know if I find anything intresting.

Flyer if you find a good resource for EPS maps pls post it here as I'd like to get my hands on some good maps too...

It is intresting how much data is on the net, a search of a few major universitys and goverment agencys reveals a lot of great images and data. Much of it public domain.

I did some more snooping around, looking for data I could use to produce some basic map with. I came across this site, with it's mega links map and geo related data. There area some realy cool links here.

The above site, brought this site to my attention. Huge archive of maps.
http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/index.html

A large collection of mostly CIA produced maps, some are in PDF format. Thou I am unsure how much vector data they contain.

Many are public domain, but please read the FAQ for copyright and usage information for your own safty.
