The two playes enter the stage, both for the first time.
I chose the image, so Moon Shadow has the first play.
I have sent Moon Shadow a psd of this image and I'm gettin all jittery with anticipation, or mayhap that's the coffee

What Tao didn't say is that this was an image of Jupiter, and as we both love space... I made a quick planet. Far from being perfect, but I'll let the pleasure to play with it to Tao

In fact, I got it wrong as well. The original image is from part of a map of one of Jupiters moons, Io.
Wow, now I got a universe to play with "nice shot". I'll get working on it now.

Here's the view from my world. I have mainly copied layers and trnsformed them, some lighting effects, more than a couple layer styles. Erm, what else? Two Brian Eno CD's, one Miles Davies. Oh, and buckets of fun. Click on the image to see a larger version (240kb)
The file size is getting bigger, I hope I don't run out of web space

Hi MySublime420, If, when you say, "screwing ariund" you mean, playing 'round in PS. and getting to know what many of the filters and effects do, practicing those filters and effects, by going through some excellent tutorials referred to in these forums. Then the answer is yes.

"...and then there was light". I especially like the light pouring through the clouds MS.
I think I have become stuck in an effect. I started off taking it even lighter, but I think I may have made it even darker in the end.

[edit]
I was going to describe what steps I took to get to the image ^above^. But my memory is not what I think it was. Having been stupid enough not to follow the "back door" technique in an earlier attempt, I went overboard with this one, duplicate image, duplicate layers, dup' , you get the idea?
So now that I come to write about what techniques I used, I can't really remember. [/]
I more or less used the same "effects" as I did in my last post.

As a serious filter freak and unmitigated defomer of images, I just have to say that this is turning into a classic ... an epic game .. my hat is off to both of you !!

I'm looking forward to the possibility of a challenge or two some time in the future ... but for now ... I'll just enjoy spectating

as for "screwing around" I agree with T-B ... The only thing I ever discovered by screwing around was how much uglier people turned out to be on the morning after !!

I like very much your last serve Taobaybee, you're offering me a very nice game, thank you very much. I hope I can do the at least the same for you ! Thanks to your great job, I had a lot of fun (again). I didn't add much, I just transformed it, I hope it will be enough for your pleasure.

I was a bit longer to answer this serve, but in fact it is due to external reasons. Saturday was the fete of music in France, so I spent all my evening wandering in town hearing good music and dancing, and then I began a LAN right after its end (in the beginning of the morning). At the time I'm writing, it's been about 48 hours I didn't sleep. I profited from a little break at the LAN in which everyone went to sleep to answer you... My mind was literally dozy (and still is), but I think I came up with something acceptable. I can remember the moment, a few minutes ago, when I was deciphering what was on my screen, and suddenly became aware : "Hey, I made a face !". All I heard from the people around was a grumble Sanzen and Trib, thanks for your nice comments they go right to my heart.

"And then there was a guardian/God...

Once again, sorry about the size.

I hope you like it !

Now I got to go back kicking the bums of those lazy boys... And I'm eagerly looking forward to your next serve

Edit : I posted the wrong images... The tiredness I suppose.

Edit : And spelling too.

Ping
Click on the ^image^to get the larger (187907 bytes) version.
For this serve I copied the original psd, flattened it, made duplicate layers and mangled selected parts of various layers. Then (it's getting hazy now) I did a few standard distortions, "polar co-ordinates" "pinch", being the main ones. Listened to JS Bach and Miles Davies. Took one of the layers I was going to discard and ran a "Baked Earth" filter to get the bottom layer.
Once I get into it, it's very easy for me to get lost in PS (in a meandering from one filter to another kinda way). "Freefalling through layers of possibility"

Great serve Mr. Baybee

Now, it's my turn : pong

Bigger version (1280*1024, 700 kb)

This is not the original modification I made. In one of the last step of the first PSD I made, each time I tried to finalize it with a polar coordinates, Photoshop told me there was an error (impossibility to write to scratch disk), and then I couldn't do anything else in Photoshop. I think it was a memory error. So I restarted and made this one... It doesn't represent my original idea, I hope you will have fun with it even though I think it is less good than the first one.

Thanks for the kind words. I know both Moon Shadow and myself have enjoyed it immensely. It's surprising how much you learn from playing. Its also reminded me of just how much I love to just "play" in PS.
My next serve will be very soon, I've just looked at the filesize of what I've been doing so far, 43MB !! I'll have to get the scissors out for a serious trimming

I have taken longer than usual with my turn, because I have just found out, I have to find somewhere else to live. The building where I have my flat/apartment, has been sold and the new landlord wants all of the tenants out.
So that means I have two months to find another home. I really need to focus on this so I hope you don't mind Moon Shadow, if I make this my last serve.
I have had a great time "ponging" and would like to thank you for such an enjoyable game. Thanks as well to all of you who have supported us with your comments/encouragement. It does make a difference to know you are there

My sympathies but ...

In what uncivilised backwater of the galaxy do you live ???? This kind of thing has been outlawed in Europe for years ... Go to the equivalent of your Citizen's Advice Bureau and find out your rights!!! ... With the number, and diversity of the Asylumites, I'm sure someone lives close enough, and has the skill and knowlege, to be able to help you out here.

Thanks Trib for the thoughts. I live in Liverpool in the UK and I've checked most of the legislation pertaining to this, due to the kind of tenancy I have (the only kind if you are a poor old student), the landlord is within his rights.
The area I live in, in Liverpool has been an old crosscultural cosmopolitian kind of place that is getting very popular. So the developers are moving in and renovating the older houses, where the flats/apartments are, mine included, and converting them into "luxury" apartments, and selling them. "KerChing"
'Tis the way of the world, well this part of it anyway.
I'm turning it around to work for me. I might make a bigger move, to Ireland perhaps. I have a couple of leads for some work there so who knows? I'm still waitng for it to sink in actually, I've only had 12 hours for that.
