When using PS to manipulate photographs (rather than to create images) I like to treat it as it were a virtual darkroom (as I'm sure it was intended) and look towards manipulating the frame, tonal values, colour, contrast saturation etc... Treating the software in this manner can help to bring about a self induced reality-check. [edit - Did someone tear a hole in the space-time-continuum? I posted after H][RO, but also an hour before!
