Topic: POW - Week 42 - Technology

This week´s topic: TECHNOLOGY!

Everything man-made that has a functional purpose and is more than a simple tool. From microelectronics to industrial landscapes - it´s all around you.

The usual Guidelines, in case someone is new to this or someone else is suffering from amnesia:
1. Photo needs to go along with the subject in some way.
2. Use thumbnails for photos with any dimension larger than 450 px or over 40 kb.
3. Post as many as you want.
4. At the end of the week the person who chose the topic will pick someone to choose the next topic. This isn't a "winner," just someone who gets to suggest the next topic.
5. No sigs.

I removed the "no critiques" rule because no one´s following it anyway, and I think everyone likes some feedback on their pix - at least I do.

BTW, I also took the fredom to go back to the correct counting, so this is POW 42, as it should be, and not POW 52.

Not what you were expecting?
It was the Romans' development of arches for their baths to create large open spaces without columns that led up to creating domes, culminating in the huge dome on the Pantheon in Rome.
Brunelleschi rediscovered this technology and used it to design and build what is still the largest dome in the world, on the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. He did this in the early 15th century, WITHOUT USING WOODEN FORMS TO HOLD UP THE DOME WHILE IT WAS BEING BUILT!
