Hey guys, Im new here (infact, just regestered yesterday, or the day before). I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for an interface for the webpage Im making. Usually I'd be able to think of something by now, but no, nothing. the page is for a band, they're called "Life After High School" Im doing it for their record lable. They're a Ska/Punk band. Anyone have any ideas of what would look cool?
Anyways, whats everyone up to tonight, or this morning/afternoon depending on where you're living?
- Dan -
|

Perhaps Im not creative enough. At least I haven't found a way to inspire myself. Infact, I don't think I'm very motivated easily. I have a major assignment due tomarrow, and I haven't started yet. *sigh* |

That sounds like a great idea, if everyone here got together and made a page. It'd probably be real sweet looking too. |

For creative stuff, I have a whole series of these little blank book I picked up at Urban Outfitters, real cheap (they still sell them there last I looked, $5-6 bucks.) Virtually everything I've ever done that actually *has* a shape has been designed first in one of these little books, with a cheap ball point pen. I don't keep a day planner, I have my collection of little books I bring to meetings or to the coffee houses. I tend to just grab one of them, and ****le my way through meetings, or put important notes in there, wherever I can find blank space. What happens is, I have to flip past all of my OLD ****les and great ideas from yore, and this sparks new ideas, sometimes even reviving ideas that might-have-been but were temporarily lost. It may take me a couple of years to fill up a book, mainly because I swap around all the time. If I get really stumpered for ideas, I can always dig through my old books and find stuff I was doing 4-5 years ago, "Hey! THAT was cool..." Get the picture?
I've got one design in there I may work with soon, which is based off a ****le I made during a particularly boring meeting. As I crossed my legs, the heel of my shoe left a mark on the back of the chair in front of me, a very neato shape. I saved it in my book, and then ****led it into even better shape, another blade-like thingy, you'll all see it soon.
The main thought here is this - PAPER is a GOOD THING. When I design a shape on screen, I tend to be much more rigid and mathmatical than I would have been while ****ling. Sometimes I'll get so hung up on HOW to make that shape on screen, I'll forget to experiment. See http://www.ozones.com/spaceship/ for a snapshot of what an average page in one of these books can look like. Ah welkl, ramble ramble, nature of creativity, etc... carry on!
|

OK, you may now refer to DOODling once again! Doodle away in your little notebooks, doodle doodle doodle. Here's another word you should avoid, "****". I hate that word, don't you? :-)
|

I am definately a newby 'cuz I am blown away by how definately COOL THIS IS! (Now back to my regular calm demeanor) Dan I think I have you beat in the procrastination area. Last semester I pulled 3 all nighters due to bad planning and my inability to narrow down all the infintite possibilities...too many ideas?! I find I get a lot of ideas from Chapters and the library (quilts to quantum physics) & am trying to be religous about a notebook. It very dangerous for me to sit down with Photoshop too soon though. I find it hard to admit an idea is going nowhere once I've invested "computer" time on it. Thumbnails rule. |
