My cable modem got fried by a thunder storm and it took @home a week to come to my house. Then they got here and fucked up my home network so I had to reinstall everything. Shittiest customer service I'ver ever seen.

Bummer. I should get my first cable modem installed tomorrow, everything is in place, they just need to finish the last tests in the basement of my building and flip the switch, woo-hoo! Hopefully we won't need any customer service, Telia is kind of like USWest in many ways, heh. We also got two new computers to add to the network, now we'll have four machines, two PC, one Mac, and one Linux, woot!

BTW, I hate cable modems, I had lots of problems with mine, friends have had problems with theres. I dont think Ive ever heard anyone really say anything good about the actual modem or service. Of course I got my modem fixed and it works alright now, I still wish I asked for DSL instead of Cable...

I'm actually on my third modem. They seem to attract lightning strikes or something.

You don't buy cable modems with @home, they are provided by the company. So he isn't out much

I must say (and I remember having this argument before) That I love my cable modem and have many friends who wish they hadn't gotten stuck in long term contracts with DSL companies so they could switch over.

Anyway mbridge unfortunatley you got stuck with the big problem, usually the on site work is done not by @home but your local cable company and or another company theu sub-contract with for the computer support. I think the mish-mash of the cable company and the ISP are the biggest problems cable modems face (that and all the negative propaganda spit out by the DSL companies)
