Preserved Topic: Confusing Tutorial - Need Help Deciphering (Page 1 of 1)

Ok, I recently visited a site looking for tutorials. Came across an effect I want to use... Makes a button look like it's literally coming out of the bg. I'm not sure if there's an easier way or not, but my problem is this.

The turtorial I found is rather confusing to my newbie-like mind. If any of you can help me figure out what exactly the authors are telling me to do, I would be greatly appreciative.

That actually looks rather funkified...seems kinda simple when I was reading it over...but I really don't think a quickmask is needed...ask someone else, I'm no good at tut interping.

I agree with Sloloem.. that tut was a bit OTT... try the Doc's tut on inset bars.... easier to follow and shorter!
