I like my monitor but thinking I want a HUGE one and flat screen ....

I had a dream not long ago that I had one that was like a huge thing on the wall and omg it was just so cool ............ ~closes eyes...memories~

Anyway.... any ideas on a good one? size....flat or not? I saw some @ www.tigerdirect.com
but thinking I don't want to put $1500 in just a monitor...

Well. all flat screens have 2 very light gray horizontal lines running accros the screen, this is the lone fault in the trintron tubes used to make flat screens. Im and avid poster at www.sharkyforums.com, and from what i gather, the Sony, and Mitsubishi both make very good flat moniters.

if you were to go with mit. , the Diamond/Dia. Pro are a good series to choose from. I have a 19 inch Hitachi Cm715, its not flat, but its wonderful, i love it. If you using a 15 inch moniter, 19 inches will blow you away. My best advice to give you. Is if you find one that looks appealing, go to local computer stores (bestbuy, compusa) and look at them, test there image quality and so on, basically just see if your gonna like it. Shiii, you didn't say what type you new monitor should be, but after taking a look at the TigerDirect, I saw that only those LCD monitors are that much expensive, yay! So, you probably want a new LCD monitor? Personally, I wouldn't buy that type of monitor because it's really very expensive and I don't think that it is worth all that money (LCD monitors with diagonal larger than 17" are extremely expensive - between 2000 and 5000$). So, my suggestion would be to buy a *regular* monitor. My favorite monitors are from ADI, and the best one is definitively ADI G910 (based on 19" Sony Flat Trinitron Tube). On the other hand if you want monitor with diagonal larger than 20", then you should buy some monitor manufactured by SONY.

ooooo, I would go for the Mitsubishi diamond pro 2040u...22in(20 viewable). If you have a desk that can hold it up, the the space to keep it, it kicks! I had one in the U.S before I moved to the desert, god i miss it.....i have a nice hp 17in here...

Shiii, I forgot to mention that if you're going to choose *regular* monitor, you should choose one that has the highest input bandwith, so that it can provide the highest refresh rates. Also, remember not to sit too close to any large monitor!

well well well.. i have 3 19" monitors sitting in front of me right now, plus i have another 19" monitor i use on occassion in the next room.

i recently purchased two 19" sony g400 monitors for about 500$ a piece... they blow the other two 19" monitors i own out of the water.

like mr. max i used to be an avid fan of adi because it seemed to me they had very high-quality monitors and they were much more reasonably priced than something from sony or mitsubishi; but when i built my most recent computer i had a large wad of money to blow (freud would be proud) and decided to switch to some sonys.

haha it's such a joke, the adi next to the two sonys is really embarassing. i'll pull up the same image on all three monitors and the sonys make the adi look so bad that it's almost painful to look at. sony (and i assume mitsubishi) charge that extra amount of money because you're truly getting a much better product.

but hell, everyone ignores me when i try to help with hardware.. so you probably should take what i say with a grain of salt.

if anything, just realize that sony makes some of the best monitors on the market and you really get what you pay for.. if you're going to be staring at the damn thing all day long for the next few years, do you want to try and save 100$ by going with a lesser manufacturer?

You're right... I rather pay the extra and get a good one. I have a 17" MaxTech now and it's ok but I want a larger one and better. I am going to get one this week and thinking I will try the Sony. I am going to check out the Sony and the Mitsubishi.

I don't know too much about monitors, but I have a 21" ViewSonic G810 and am very happy with it.

BTW, don't be surprised when you get a 21" that it will smell horribly like fish for the first couple of days. I have no idea why this happens, but I'm not the only one who has noticed this phenomenon.

I've got a couple os 19" Trinitrons, they are flat, they are sweet. They are huge. They smell like a monitor.

Well, the next monitor I'm going to buy is very propably going to be a 21" Sony G500 Flat Trinitron. Absolutely the best value for money there is, as far as I can see. Of course there's still the F500, which is a real candy, but for my work I feel I really don't need all the extra pixels for all that extra money...

We tested quite a few of those 21-inchers some time ago, so I figure I should know...

That's...lmao...really, really odd, Wes. In the video lab at my old school, one of the older video editing things (can't think of the name for some reason) started to smell really ugly... Like old fish. It turns out that there was a lubricant or something in there that was made from, well, fish. Apparently nobody uses that stuff anymore. At least that's what Mistah Jennings said. Seemed logical enough.

OK, now if you *really* want a monitor that will kick some serious butt, you need three screens, minimum. They should be flat too! And, well, attached! Like this one at http://www.panoramtech.com/pv290dsk.htm - only $22,750. I quote...
