I wonder what you guys think about http://www.HumanClick.com service? Do you think it would be ok to install such a software on one serious web site? The idea is good for the company that I work for but I don't know if there is a catch behind it.

I think that kind of interactivity could be very advantageous for an online company. It would be no different than walking into a retail store and wanting to ask a question about some of the products from someone who knows. So depending on what kind of products the site was selling, I think this could be a real good thing.

I have had some really good exeriences with Human Click. I think it adds a level of interaction and humanity to a digital exchange,

Well, I ran into these folks a few weeks back, and as usual, I simply signed up for the servie, kept it running in my cam page for a while to see how it went. It *was* kind of neat, I got a little flash and sound on my system whenever someone visited, and got to learn all sorts about them. If you had these bits scattered all about your site, you could quite literally follow someone all the way through your site, watching wherever they go, it could be kind of spooky if people thought about it. You have this built in option to "request a chat" with your users, in which case it launches a dhtml floating window across the screen letting them know you're watching and want to chat. (I tried this a few times, People freaked, big time, heh.) I'll tell ya, if it didn't cost more than my hosting each month, I may have gotten it for myself too! Definitely good for a company, let your staffers do something about the website rather than just sit and read email, heh heh.

Wow, I didn't expect such a positive opinion about it. We have live agents, that's why I thought about this software as something really cool. Somebody will always be there to help our visitors.

i dunno...it's a little in your face doncha think...i wanna make my online shopping experience or whatever as impersonal as possible while still maintiaining good service...isn't that what is great about the internet? I ordered some music gear from sweewater and a week later i had my sales guy personnally emailing me and asking what i was doing with each piece of gear and how it was working out, or if there was anything he could do...this kinda surprised me and annoyed me a little...i guess unsolicited help is kinda creepy...

Yes, the "creepy" bit is a serious risk from the HumanClick thing, no doubt. What I thought was the most interesting was being able to actually follow folks through your site, giving you a real-time feel for what's working, and what's not. I know I luanched the "chat with me" floater thing on a few people, and they all freaked out, said "no thanks" and left right away. (A few folks, being friends of mine, came back and requested a chat, they were surprised as hell when I actually answered and chatted back! Heh.)

Soundlike it could be a great tool, but I would not like to be 'disturbed' while I am visiting a website. For me, one of the nice things about the web is that I can visit websites with the feeling of anonymity.. (even though data collection might be occurring in the background) .

The last thing I want is to be approached my a sales associate and being pushed to buy something! That would be as bad as when going to the mall and you walk in a shop and a million sales associates jump on you asking "Hello, I am Sam, can I help you with anything?" This has always bugged the beejeevers outta me! "Look Sam! If I need anything I will ask you OK?" hmmmm.....

From a purely business prospective (i.e. Profit, bottome line, capitalism) it is probably a businesses dream app.

Maybe I am just an old fuddy duddy. I know info about me is being collected behind the scenes, but don't rub my face in it by actually contacting me! The old saying "Don't call us, we'll call you" applies here imho.

Yeah,

It's just a tool and like most it can be used well or used poorly. My experience with it was from a customer service perspective. The page's I've seen it used well on are ones that do not initiate the conversation. Instead letting the viewer/customer come to them.
