I'm looking for a free, invisible hit counter.

Any ideas?

(Other than that I'm a cheapskate?)

Are you looking for a hit counter server-side script or hosted hit counter (like TheCounter)?

All I want to do is see how many hits I'm getting. My host, Dreamhost, keps logs I'm sure, but I'll be damned if I can make hide nor hair of them.

So I either need someone to tell me how to decipher Dreamhost's logs (Doc?), or some other hit counter. I'm not sure if I can "install" a hit counter on dreamhost's server, If that's what you mean, Mr. Max.

not sure about dreamhost but if you have a cgi bin with your account you should be able to DL a free cgi couter that you can configure and run from your server.. or else like Max said go for a third party counter run from an independent server. If ya do a search on teh web for 'web counters, or, cgi scripts,' etc you should find a ton of stuff.. if ya need help configuring post back.. its not as bad as it looks

hedda, you already have a built in stat program, you don't need to go through the logs again, it's already been done for you! For my site here it's http://www.OzoneAsylum.com/stats/ - the user assword needed for looking at the stats here is lunatic:asylum, heh. Go look at http://yourdomain.com/stats/ and feed in your dreamhost username/passwd, see what you get, it'll probably be all that you need.

Anyone know how I can check the way the site looks on Web TV?

I had a program program lately called "web-tv Viewer" This was an win 9x browser which shows like a webtv setup...
The only problem it was on a magazine cd-rom. I will look if i can find the cd-rom and give you some web adress

Or you need to search on web-tv-viewer at altavista or so...
