gah.

this has turned into "my favorite songs" not "what emotionally moves me"

Let's leave classical out of it...it moves me and many of us in so many forms it is not "telling" in this sense.

For me it has to be "Like The Way I do" by Melissa Etheridge---so much heart and emotion involved...and

"How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I can't Even Smile Today?"--by Suicidal Tendencies. Same Reason.

Anyone else care to spill their guts via song?

Why leave classical out of it, if that's what moves me...?

If we start restricting what kind of music counts, what will we be left with? Besides, how many people have actually mentioned classical music?

if I may interject briefly...
seeing as I was the one who started this thread... I guess I get to play god and say what does and does not "count".

classical counts.

when i was a bit younger i was a big fan of Tchaikovsky.

all honesty thrown out on the table however...
Songs like.... Walkin in Memphis, For what it's worth, Streets of Philidelphia, and I Will Remember You are the types of songs I was especially searching for.
I enjoy so many other sorts of music...
but I was mostly looking for something with vocals.... something that is somewhat well known... and something that makes me want to cry.

Cheers to all of you.
You've been a great help.
I honestly didn't expect to see this many replies.

I appologize for the mostly "all classical" list. I don't listen to music with lyrics.
Sometimes I do but it is on a real sparse occassion. I thought that it was a list of music that touched you emotionaly in some way. Those pieces that I listed have always touched me and made me emotional. Classical music has a very definate way of bringing about emotions in someway without conveying the same emotion to another listener.

I think you'll find that songs that move people are often their favorites... I didn't list my favorites, but those that I did list move me and are among my favorites.

Leonard Cohen - Take This Waltz
Lenard Cohen - Joan of Art

Gah, i love his music. Sometimes the imagry he suggests is just amazing.
Take this Waltz is the best translation of that poem that i've ever heard with Cohen's own twist on the words so it mades a better song.
