Preserved Topic: New iMac

Just came from the Apple site (my wife called about it). It seems that I'll have to purchase her one as soon as they ship. She always was a sucker for a cute face... ;-)

Yah, I went out to a club where they got the satellite transmission, it looked pretty cool to me. Sure, the monitor is too small for professional use, but for a home machine it's pretty gee-whiz neat! Remember, the iMac's are aimed at the general consumer market, people who will probably only have the one computer and aren't willing to dedicate a room especially for all the electronics, heh. I'd love to hook the iPod I don't own into that cool looking... thing - why not?



Cool gizmo, no? Wait until you see how smoothly the flat panel moves on that arm, this is one nice toy IMHO.

Yeah we broadcast the entire keynote today.

It's quite interesting. Reasonably priced too $1299 to $1799 depending on the options. (the high end will be availible by the end of the month)

What kind of bone-head move is this? What's the justification to buy this if not as a Christmas present for your, uh, kids?

Yeah, I watched the keynote too. What I'm really hoping is that this inspires some price breaks on the G4 towers

Yea.. those (top end) things are nearly twice as fast as my G4 tower that's not quite a year old. You know the desktops are due for a major speed bump or something now. I give it 2 or 3 months. C'mon G5!
