This conversation started in the 'Your Major' Topic. I'll address it here since it has nothing to do with majors. |

I got "ordained" at the ULC site a year or two ago. Never got around to seeing whether I could register to perform marriages here in North Carolina without any problems, though. My ordination is my own dirtly little secret since my wife would absolutely kill me if she found out. She takes her religion seriously and wouldn't appreciate my little joke. |

One of my best friends in Minnesota got married last year. His wifes brother went and got ordained at ulc.org, and 3 weeks later he had the licence from Minnesota to perform marriages and presided over the ceremony! It sounds like it should be a scam, doesn't it? But it's not! Perfectly legal, they've been around for ages, and have taken this through the courts many times, up to the highest levels. |

Not to undermine your mother's authority, tj333, but I don't see how she can stop you. |

tj333: I got ordained in the ULC 6 years ago after seeing a brief 'and finally...' on the news about a woman who ordained her cat so I don't think age is really going to be a problem - just don't tell her. |
