I've been nosing around the differences between various varieties of RAM and this is bit that gets the least explanation.

I've been looking at this page:
www.oempcworld.com/generic.jhtml?pid=17

which seems to suggest that CL3 is faster. I have in my hand a PC100-222 (as mentioned in the article) but would I really notice the difference?

Actually Crucial suggest that CL2s run faster (and I do tend to turn to Crucial with my memory questions):
http://support.crucial.com/scripts/crucial.exe/solution?11=000724-0010&130=000964475444&14=&2715=&15=0&2716=0&57=search&58=&2900=rKpkPNFVMq&25=6&3=CL2

I know I can fit either but I was just curious about the difference - as the numbers appear to refer to the number of clock cycles it takes to respond then clearly the CL2 is going to be faster.

I think I might be getting concerned about very small details here!! However, I'd be interested to know if there is any differences worth bothering about.

This is something that I need to figure out as well. I bought a 64mg chip a few months ago and it bogged my computer down like hell. I mean, good greif I only have 64 in their now.

I wish I could help you out but I have had some bad luck with RAM here lately.

RAM memory certified to CAS Latency 2 is faster.
