...so I go to write in deviantART in the appropriate categories, NetArt and Community. (but you could vote for the asylum I suppose.) Of course I had to write in Doc for the personal page category...and I am underwhelmed with a smattering of mediocre sites that the brightest and best from the webby staff chose for us to vote for. I really do NOT get how some of these sites are even nominated. I am stunned, its like we arent even looking at the same version of the internet...they need to upgrade apparently. I said all that to say this, GO VOTE!!!!

Right I think we are all agree that the Webbies is pretty lame:
www.ozoneasylum.com/Forum1/HTML/004305.html

so lets do something about it. There are a few thousand of us which might make a difference or make something register on their radar that deviates slightly from the drab conformity of their list.

So moaiz has nominated DA in the community section - I've thrown the Asylums name into the ring (moaiz gets a straightjacket wedgie for being so blantantly disloyal!! Although DA seems to be developing into and Asylum away from the Asylum!!). I did get told that it couldn't ping the site but the URL was right so don't let that stop you.

I see DA is currently running at 10% of the votes for the communtiy sites (ie. it is running second to burning man) so its up to you people - it may be worth throwing your vote behind DA just to show them.

OK for the other categories - anyone got any interesting suggestions?

Personal site: I'm Voting for the Doc. Lets keep this consistent as I entered Doc Ozone and it tells me it is already in as Ozones so bear that in mind.

Humour: I voted for the Onion - predictable but still great.

News: I voted for gagpipe.com - the Beeb will win again so why not?

Science: Becoming human is superb.

Radio: I voted for xfm.co.uk

Anyone got any other ideas? I've left most of the other votes open so we could focus on something interesting if need be,

You can leave you comments so go and do that - you can read them before you vote so it is a chance to influence the vote.

Its not going to get out of its rut unless people give it a good kick.

I didnt vote for the asylum as community because I am a bit of a xenophobe, I couldnt imagine what would happen if the asylum won a webby, the noise in here would be unimaginable. It would be the difference between a county facility and a private facility.

Its a purely selfish reason.

moaiz: Good point - the party would last for weeks. At least if the Doc won best personal site he would take it with quiet good grace, give us 20 minutes to celebrate and then flood the halls with tear gas.

I feel the same way as moiaz. I wouldn't want to see this place degraded by a mass wave of people. Look at what happened to sites like Sijun...

synax: Thats fine DA needs your vote more than the Asylum does and you can vote for the Doc at the same time

I voted for ozones, but it doesn't look like it has enough votes yet to be listed with its own percentage. Something called "ze page" does, though. Get to voting folks!

I also cast a ballot for deviantart. However there seems to be some confusion. I apparently has been entered under a few different names:

Yes, this is the site I want. Cast my vote for it.

No, my site is different. I want to vote for it.

I voted for the first one. Right now it does have its own percentage listed ... at about 9 percent now I think!

My vote for ozones.com and my review.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Websites come and websites go, but there are only a few sites out there that are hidden nuggets of inspiration as well as information. Ozones.com is one of those small gems out there that is hidden but shines brightly when brought into the light.

I agree, it is only a personal website created by a Dr. Ozone but this personal site crosses HTML, DHTML and CSS boundries and then teaches you the very techniques that the author uses. I have seen very few sites like this. Eye-catching graphics, stunning animation with tons of content. His 'Hands On' tutorials are simple to understand and apply into your own ideas. He also has links to other projects and ideas changing the look of his internet.

One of his best projects is the 'Ozone Asylum' a message board for graphics designers 'better known as inmates' to collaborate and improve their skills. Mostly a collaborative project, but a success none the less.

What more can I say, go check out the site!

*and then I posted the address to both Ozones and ozone asylum
