sometimes you see videotutorials on the web that show a screen and the motion of the mouse and everything else.
does anyone know of a tool to get this?

and please no jerk answers with videocameras.

I use Camtasia at work. Since everything I do is in house I get alot of feedback and people like the results. I started out doing full screen tuts of stuff. When we started giving them out on CD we got complaints that the video was jerky and lost sync with the sound. Basically a lot of peoples computers couldn't handle full screen video. So now I bring it down to 320x240 its clear(viewable) and people can choose to view at 200% if they want to.

Anyway my point is before you start cranking out 1024x768 videos check to see if your audience can view them.

are you capturing it already at 320 or at 1024 and then downscale to 320?

Grumble:

1) Buy a Mac

2) Buy SnapzPro (optional, because if you buy a new Mac with OSX, SnapzPro is bundled for free)

3) Make happy movies of just about anything that occurs on your screen!

Optimizing the quicktime movies is another story. But the software makes the capture part of it easy! That's how I did the Pen Tool videos, but it's also how I did the animated gif demos in the tute as well - I opened the little movies in ImageReady as a series of stills which then was easy to convert to a gif animation.
