Not freeware, but just 4 of many good ones. Care to share, ware?

Media Jukebox 8 (J.River freeware/shareware) - great media file manager/player
(shareware can also rip, edit, burn etc. -not to be confused with MP3 Jukebox)

Folder Match - super file utility for incremental copies and synchronizing folders
(identifes which files are newer, older, same, or orphans...subfolders too and does synch or copy)

Clickbook - printing utility that works from pdfs or Office docs etc. to print booklets, brochures etc.
(take a 32 page MS Word doc or PDF and print it double sided, two per page on 8 sheets of paper)

Printer's Apprentice - font manager that allows you print font catalogs even with uninstalled fonts
(many fonts per page - i printed over 500 fonts on 14 pages - beats suitcase in many respects)

I like RegHeal.

I would love to find a untility that if I click on an *.exe file it will tell me all of the files that belong to it (*.dll's etc. . . )

IconPackager is nice. I can't stand the default windows icons as most of you I am sure.

Irfanview is a great, fast image viewing program. I especially love it's thumbnail viewing option for looking at whole folders of images at a glance.

Does photoshop count as a Utility?

If so the PS, winamp, Font Xplorer Lite (& some times The Font Thing), E-icons and nice little app called effective desktop, which has some nice little desktop enchantments.

I was thinking more of utilities out of the mainstream. Things
that Winblows left out - such as good backup and file management.
or great (by little known) utilities to manage music, or images, or
fonts, or to burn or rip or equalize or normalize or realize whatever
it is you wish to do.

which makes me think of Norton Ghostwhich is by far the most valuable
utility i have and the only one I could not go without - i would
choose Ghost over my anti-virus!

and add zonealarm to the list (although it is mainstream)

DirectConnect, www.neo-modus.com , its the best file sharing program out there right now, no spyware and you can run your own hub if you want.
everything else i got is just standard stuff, AIM, ICQ, CINEMA 4D(not so standard but its nice), TweakXP, and sometimes NewsShark

I'm also an Irfanview fan. It's got plugins to handle almost every graphic including PSD. But noone has mentioned my favorite. Popup ad filter.

A handy program is Screen Ruler, its a simple program that measures how many pixels wide or high anything on your screen is. Its really simple and you'd be surprised how much it comes in handy!

first page rocks- why would you even go out and buy homepage (although it comes free with dreamweaver mx). Color picker rocks. Its free and WHEREVER I point on my desktop and it tells me what color it is in hex code. I have to give a big shout out to smartftp. Over all you can find some really good FREE utilities here. My computer is one spankin' utility!!!
