Preserved Topic: logo making tutorial?

Anybody know of a resource where I can get some logo making tips/tutorials?

Well, that seems kind of silly to me.

the content and design of a logo will vary as drastically as the reasons for making one...

1) Make it recognizable

2) Make it scalable

3) Make it get straight to the point

Other than that.....

??

If you want to make it scaleable then make it with illutstrator or any other vectorized program

Logo's are often designed to represent something. Say I was designing a logo for the Pine Rivers Shire Council. I wouldn't make a logo consisting of say palm trees and a beach now would I. I'd use a pine tree and a river instead.

Well, if you can find a copy of it, there is a pretty good article in the May2002 copy of Dynamic Graphics on Logos.

I saw a good website somewhere where the guy took the name of the company and did up 3-4 logos each focusing on a certain "feel".
Then he would have a very sound reason of why he did the logo that way. Something like: "I used the pyramid to show that your company was ahead of its competators." and that kind of thing. Explaining why the logo was designed the way it was.

Look at FedEx's logo. See the "implied" arrow between the E and the x? That would kind of symbolize that FedEx moves fast in the right direction to bring you your parcel. Well, sort of anyway. . .

1. Plan
2. Design
3. Refine
