Ok, my birthday is comin up in a few weeks and my parents confirmed that they are getting me the upgrade card. Meaning that I would be able to take my old G3 266 tower mac (still in the beige!) And change it to a G4 500. THE G4 500 upgrade card is a birthday gift. PLUS I am going to be putting on 9.2 and Mac OS X, plus the upgrade to that.

Now, what I want to know before I start to install this stuff; if there is any known problems with the card, if anyone has a similar system to mine?

Also I would like to know if any old mac programs would not work on 9.2. The ones that I would like to work are about 4 years old. I have Photoshop 4, Illustrator 8, Pagemill 2.0, Director 6, Authorware 4, and Fetch 3. Those are the main programs that I use on my mac. Any advice is helpful guys. Thanks.

Depends on the card I would say.
More info here and a forum.
And some upgrade cards will not allow you to run Mac OS 10.1
on certain Macs, so do a little research before selecting a new processor.
Not an expert .....just what I have read. http://www.macgurus.com/products/cpus/xlr8boards.php?xlr8boards.html

Another one for upgrades but MacGurus is the best for info
on upgrades..... http://macspeedzone.com/archive/5.0/upgradesmanufactureresults/G3266.html
And yes some older software will not work in 9.1
