Preserved Topic: A question for XP users

Hello,

I never installed/worked on XP personally...
But I have a customer that always messes his PC! and deletes stuff and not aware of what he's doing...

I know that I can use Win2k and give him "user" rights just enough for him to browse the internet and check his mail...

does XP allow me to set such a control level and security for my problem?

I don't want to hear him calling me about a new problem when he deletes his system files...

currently he's running: W98 SE

Yes...yes it does. WinXP is built of a combination of Win2K architechture and functionality, mixed with some stuff from Win9x

but i heard that in XP everyone is an admin...so are you sure I can still set their powers?

It's true that every account has admin rights after you create it, but you can easily change that and (at least with XP professional and NTFS formatted partitions) allow or not allow them to access any folders you like.

Apart from that, Windows ME/2000/XP has a system file protection which automatically restores deleted system files:

WinXP is a Win2k with a better interface, a better look and a lot of additional bugs, specially in the interface. But it's a good OS and if you can do something in Win2k, you can also do it in WinXP.
