After the success of Pugzly's Mensa cert. request, I thought I'd drop in a request for something I've tried and tried to find. A decent picture of an AA chit (I believe they're something akin to casino chips and they represent the number of years a person has been alcohol free). A long time ago I had a scene that I wanted to make in Pov, but a key ingredient in the scene was an AA chit, say a five year or greater. But, to date, I haven't managed to find a picture of one. |

To the best of my knowledge there isn't a "standard". Area committees, and even individual meetings, are free to choose whatever they'd like. Some locales use a card, others a medallion, but most use some sort of coin or chip. Here, they're about the size of an old silver dollar, in different colors of anodized aluminum for each month up to a year, bronze after that. Is that the sort of thing you were thinking? |

Yea, that sounds about right. I didn't realize there was no set standard. That makes it easier, but I still wouldn't mind seeing a few examples. A card won't work for my scene though. I'm going to have to make it a metal coin or ceramic chip like object. |

Very cool! Thanks! Funny... It'd never occurred to me to try the word medallion. |

And it seems that what we call a coin, others call a medallion. |

I haven't started anything yet. Today was a mix of dozing on the couch in the heat (o.k. so 75 F / 23 C may not be hot to most folks, but that's warm up here. Especially with the sun up almost 24 hours straight), and having a bunch of relatives over to visit. But I may get started on it tomorrow. I plan to recreate the basic layout of the topside of one of the medallions in PS and use it as a heightfield in POV. At least, that's my initial idea. It'll be faster than working with text directly in POV or exporting meshes of text from Rhino (text in the form of a mesh files tends to be huge). |
