Hello, I'm looking to purchase 2 nics before august. I want the cheapest, and yet still functional nics I can get. One will be for a winME system, and one for a win98SE system. I found this: http://www.computers4sure.com/product.asp?ProductID=94827&CatID=860&IID=860 which seems to be the cheapest, although I don't know too much about nics so I was wondering if someone could look it over for me and tell me if it'd work. These two nics are mainly for lan parties, although maybe some home networking later on. Well if you can tell me how good this nic is, or find me a better one that's cheap please tell me. |

Im not much of a network person, but Im pretty sure all network cards that lets say use the same type of cable will work together because they meet standards. I got two completly different cards, one was made five years before the other, I got them off this guy who had them spare for ~15USD (I dont really know the conversion from IRL£ to EURO to USD) |

Yup, most NICs will run without a hitch no matter the brand. I've been through several from a really old ISA NIC to a Generic Compusa NIC. They should all be made to standard so there's really little difference. |

Mine is a Netgear FA310TX, very cheap, very good and very windows compatible. |
