I have done quite a bit of searching here and on MS's site for this info but didn't find anything to help me.

My fiancee came home with a present (Win XP home edition). My only question is, with programs like Money 99, Office 97 and Visual Studio 6 will they work on XP or am I going to have to upgrade them as well?

These are really the only programs that I am concerned about, everything else I can either live with out or work around.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think that you'll have any problems with these programs on XP - I didn't find a program yet that worked on 98 and didn't on XP, and especially Microsoft programs shouldn't cause any trouble.

Yeah, I don't think you should have a problem. I didn't have any compatibility problems when I upgraded (not anything that a few driver upgrades couldn't fix, at any rate).

To be sure, you can install them using WinXP's 'Compatibility mode'.
It's supposed to allow older programs to run in XP if you're experiencing dificulties with a 'standard' install.

You won't have a problem while making the old MS programs work in XP.
But you can have a driver problem. Some old scanners, video cards or other stuff may not have yet an updated XP driver and they may not function properly.
This is not common but it may happen.
