I need to recover files from a drive that was formatted by winxp's quick format or whatever during install. I know, I know... i'm a friggin retard. I just wish I could turn back the clocks and unplug the drive completely before letting winxp format the WRONG drive! I'm not having a good night (morning) and I can't loose everything I've done in the last year or more! I know I won't be able to recover it all, but god am I hoping i can get some of it back. |

Hmmm...that what Ini says is actually correct. As I was in the military, all HDD that were no longer 'useful' had to be destroyed...it was the only way to be absolutely sure that the data on them was non-recoverable...and I mean totally destroyed...until nothing but dust was left... |

If Windows formated it during install, I could get large parts of the data back using nothing but my old trustworthy diskeditor and a large amount of time. But it's complicated and requires... work. baeh. (baeh can usually be neutered by the usual green stuff...) |

.... if there was a bunch of old crap system files at the beginning of the disk, do you think that that is where winxp would install physically on the disk... leaving most of the rest of the disk recoverable???? I don't want to buy a program then not get anything back..... |

what do you think is the BEST program above... its ntfs disk, and was before the incident too... I'll probably need to recover it over lan to my laptop (for disk space). |

Thanks Ini... I looked further into the runtime software site.. I cannot afford $129US... I know it may be worth it, but the fact is that I can't afford it now... now I need to know HOW to recover the data.. any way I can... |
