Okay, the title says it all. Are there any open source content management systems out there that I could use? Now, this would be for a commercial site, so even if they are open source, would there be a licensing fee? I need any suggestions you guys would offer up....thanks...

grats42: It depends on your server-side language but DmS and/or GRUMBLE might have what you are looking for. Care to expand on what you need?

well, im doing a seminar about commercial content management systems this semester at uni.
but since you are talking open source and not giving any clear directions about your requirements i can only say www.postnuke.com and my personal version www.embege.com/imsnuke

most opensource CMS come with some kind of license. (GPL,...) but it doesnt cost something.

Hi there, I thought I heard my name echoing in the halls

Yup, I've got a web content management system that's free (and almost ready), use it, modify to your hearts content, then sell the site. Just leave the credits in the code.

It's in PHP/MySQL, I've built and sold one site based on it so far.
You can find the first beta here: http://www.dmsproject.com/download.php?dcategory=DmSCmS
The biggest plus with this is that you are totally free to design the layout for the site, no static templates that you must follow.

I've got the next release lined up and that includes user/role management which the current one doesn't have, you can expect that some time during this week, some stuff left to iron out first.

Download it, read the documentation and see if it's something for you.
(No, my own site isn't built on it yet, it's PHPNuke at the moment but it will change...)
