Since all those custom visual styles are not signed / verified by Microsoft, you can't install them without patching "uxtheme.dll" library. So, in order to use them you'll have to download TGTSoft's StyleXP, which will patch it and add a few other features, only drawback is that it isn't free. Besides StyleXP, on TGTSoft's web site you can find small utility that will just patch "uxtheme.dll" (it doesn't have all other features that StyleXP has), it is called "UxThemeUtil" and it's free. IF you decide to use "UxthemeUtil" read included instructions carefully.

BTW In addition to visual styles you can also change Windows XP boot & logon screens. More about that on ThemeXP web site...

styleXP, yep. There's a fully functional trial version for download at maX's link. By trial version I don't know what that means, it apprently works and I see no hint of it ever not working so... shareware maybe? I haven't paid for it I didn't even remember them wanting money til maX mentioned it, thanks a lot maX

hmmm, how about that, expires in 11 days (help/about). We shall see that'll be a good reminder to pay up

I used to use WindowBlinds when it first came out. I had a few problems with it when some of the programs had exclusions and some didn't. Running the two caused some problems sometimes.

I just don't think I care enough about skinning windows to really pay for the StyleXP. It looks nice but, like I said, I just don't think I care enough.
