If you have a whole image you are posting to a site and you want certain sections of the graphic to be hotlinked, then messing with image maps is what you are after. On the other hand, if the graphic is really big then you probably need to slice and dice that bugger to help with your load time.

If you cut apart a graphic and want to piece it back together in HTML in order to incorporate animation and the like, then tables are the solution. Tables are tricky once you first try to learn them, but are not so bad once you get used to them.

Tell us what end result you are trying for and we could probably better help you.

Thanks a bunch everyone. I think I need to look at building a table. Id like to have areas of my image hotlinked, to other areas of my site.

Hmm... I remember, a long time ago, stumbling across a page on ozones.com where Doc explained how he makes tables for his images... I wonder if I can find it again...

[insert much searching here]

Aha! found it. First, look at the interface itself...
http://www.ozones.com/swirlydex.html

Then look at this explanation of it:
http://www.ozones.com/swirls-howto.html

I guess it doesn't actually explain how to make the table, but it may be worth looking at anyway.

Just wanted to thank everybody for all the help. Im still working on the page and still have a multitude of questions, Im just trying to sort them into an understandable language . Here is the site thus far, Check it out if ya want, and let me know what you think. Be honest please. and remember right now nothing is really working.

Speaking of nothing's really working, im trying ot add a few buttons, well more like tabs. I want then to slide out from under the interface, but im having a rough time figuring out how to accomplish this. is there a way to make multiple layers? or am I going to have to try and tackle transparent gifs?

again thanks everyone
