I don't know if this is done with javascript but anyway..

How do you get your own icon attached to your site?
I mean the little icon that appears in the list of bookmarks and
to the far left in the adress-field in IE?

I don't want to have that IE-standard-icon.

... http://www.favicon.com ...

--> You can alternate copy an icon in the root folder. But dont forget: it must be a
favicon.ico.

Then copy following Line in your head part of your index.html
--> <LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" href="favicon.ico">

All done, try and enjoy

Do you really want to compromise your visitors security? Favicons set cookies which tell others who and when. Unscrupulous webmasters can use this info to not only track you and your friends but determine what you're doing online in order to target their market better. Got this from the favicon site.

Since when does FAVICON set cookies?

All it does it add a custom icon instead of the default IE icon. I'm not aware of it using any cookie technology. The site says that users could be tracked using cookies. Well, that's true, but that has nothing to do with favicon.

The problems with favicon is that if you clear your cache, it kills the icon. Does make sense that Microsoft would store the icons with the cache, but.....
