Preserved Topic: overflow/linebreak bug...

hey there - very nice forum

i am trying to make a homepage, and hit some problems...[gee, thaz weird...]

i'm using css to position tekst in bokses around the screen. these bokses need to be a fixed width. i do not want horizontal scrollbars...

the problem is f.ex. when someone posts something in the guestbook, like a long[very long] line of dots[or letters or whatever] without there being any spaces inbetween, for automatic linebreaks, resulting in massive horizontal overflow -> horizontal scrollbars....

u see the trouble? surely there must be a way to fix this? for internet explorer 4 also
(i've tried overflow-x and overflow-y, but these don't work for ie4)

ps: any quick tips on how i can implement my greymatter into the page? what is best: using an .shtml with including the blog, or using an .php? thx!

We have the same problem in this forum some time. The only way I can think of to fix it is to modify your CGI guestbook script to split up words that are too long - make it find words of, say, 50 characters or more, and put spaces (or hyphens, perhaps) every 50 characters in it.
