I'm trying to figure out how to tell a computer to load a printer through a network using javascript. The reason is there are multiple printers through out the building and I want to be able to log on as a user and have the computer initialize a printer. Is that at all possible?

Any help would be appreciated

load? initialize?

I'm not aware of being able to do anything from Javascript other than display the print option (just like FILE>PRINT).

I wanted to use ActiveX, but my boss decided that VB would be a better way so we wrote a simple program that we then put in the users logon script section on the server. It basically grabs the users computer name and then installs the printer closest to them as well as two other high quality printers that are present on the campus.
Pretty simple, but also very functional.

Does that clear anything up?
