One of the greatest modern day artists of Sci Fi and Fantasy for me has got to be Michael Whelan. He designs/paints book jackets (amongst other things) for Del Rey Books ? authors inc:- Isaac Asimov, Stephen Donaldson, Anne McCaffery,Arthur C Clarke and Piers Anthony to name a few.
I?ve found one artist using Photoshop to produce similar art at http://www.sijun.com, I was wondering what someone like Whelan could produce using Photoshop.
My Whelan favourite entitled the ?Ultimate Sandbox? ?
Picture a little girl sitting on the moon decked in a pink and grey spacesuit, bucket and spade in hand making sandcastles, the earth rising in the top right of the canvas.
Is it possible to create Art in this sort of detail using Photoshop Doc or just wishful thinking on my part

Yah, I know Michael Whelans work, beautiful stuff. Sci-fi book covers, now *that* would be a cool gigg to land, eh? Incredibly detailed photorealistic work is really what Photoshop is designed for, this kind of thing is way doable, seems to me.Dhabih Eng's work is familiar to me, I've been following his stuff since he arrived on the net, good stuff, with tutorials, too!
