I am designing an interface for my home site and need some input. It dose not have the image change in the center yet, but I want some thoughts before doing the final touchups and finishing touches to it. Thanx alot!

Thats quite nice!
Personally I'm not a big fan of 'simple' designs, I like the high tech ones with wires, and tubes everywhere. With a bit of rust, and some sparks or something. But yours is very visually pleasing

I think the skin is real nice...what i would do different is change one of the inner circles to another color or make ot more 3d lookin.....having the same colors in such a bgi area might be a bit to much of the same....and i would tighten up on the image rollovers tables so just the changes in the button accur ........ the down load time on the preloads are quicker....im on the net at 26k on a good day and thats because i live in the foothills of the Cascades......no-mans land...hehehe...other then that i think its real clean.........lookin forward to its progression......Cyber

I am planning on adding some screws and chopping it up more tham it is now. I might add some wires if I can figure out a good way to put them in, but I like the rust idea. I also may add some dripping rust to a few of the crews too. THNX!

Hey, I like that! Shiny glowing balls rock my world, love 'em, I do! I don't know if you need the rust at this stage, what I'd work on is that center ball, it should be a lit up piece of glass, to create all of those highlights on the other marbles, dig? Nice work, very sharp. Work on some of your edge transitions, they're a bit too sharp, kinda jumpy. Nice work overall, I'll look forward to seing it in action!

I tried to get the center ball to glow like light, but never could seem to get just the right look to it. It was always to bright looking or did not look real enough. I checked out a few tutorial sites, including your glass sphere tutorial, but they didnt give quite the right look either.

I also tried dropping the lens flare in the center to give it more of a light look, but that seemed to make it worse, any thoughts or ideas of how to get a realistic light effect on the globe? Thnx!

I like that interface. I'm curious though, what it would look like if the lighting were from the same direction for all parts of it? I noticed that the center section had a light coming from the upper right, but all the outter bits seem to be lit from the center. I was just wondering if making it the same for all parts took away from the image as a whole, or made it look more realistic.

I tried to keep the lighting effect as though the light was directly above the center globe, that is why all the smaller globes light move to the center. I thought that it added to the design to meake the center of the interface the main focal point, the only problem with this idea is that the center ball looks rather strange if you do the lighting directly from the center. So i tried moving the light to the upper right of it instead. I am still playing with it though, and will post again once i make some nedded changes. Thnx!
