Preserved Topic: Urgent - Gradient -need help

I have i picture that i want to make gradient from transparent to a solid blue color... that i have done, but the problem is that the quality is not good when i put on a web page!

any sugestions is appriciated greatly!

Well, first, let's discuss the gradient. Are you exporting as a GIF or as a JPG? Gradients don't do too well in a GIF because, due to the limited number of colors, you will almost always get dithering or banding. JPGs are better suited for images with gradients.

And that brings me to the next subject: the transparency. Of course, JPG doesn't support transparency. GIF does, but remember that it doesn't support different levels of transparency the way a Photoshop layer does. In a GIF, a pixel is either on or off. It is either there or it isn't. So, if you're trying to lay a gradient image that gradually goes from transparent to solid over a background on a Web page, you won't get what you want.

We can get more specific if you can provide a link to what what you're trying to do and possibly offer some solutions.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you want the image to remain transparent on the web page? If so, you're probably having trouble with the file format.
You can't have a transparent gradient in JPG (no transparency) or GIF (100% transparency only).

You could try exporting to PNG. It supports 256 levels of transparency. Use 'Save for Web' in Photoshop 5.5, and choose PNG-24. Keep in mind that some browsers don't like PNG at all.

it looks ok if i run 32bit color on my computer, but if i go down to 16 it doesnt look to good anymore!

hope this makes more sense...
