I have an idea...how would you edit a picture of a trash can (turned upside down) so that it has puffs of smoke coming out from underneath it? Thanks!

Well if you want to just do it real fast you should use the "burning trash" filter included on your photoshop cd.

hehe.....burning trash filter....

I'm afraid it's just not *that* simple....'ok, to make a puff of smoke come from under a trashcan you just...'

nope.

Learn how to make smoke first. Don't know how? Go try. Then come back and ask some questions. Then go try some more. Then come ask more questions (hopefully by now you see a pattern...).

Then, after some practice with making smoke....try applying it to your iamge of a trash can......

and so on.

good luck, let us know your progress

lol DL

HINT: create a new layer, using black and white as your foregroound/background colours, apply the clouds filter
next apply a layer mask to that layer and paint out what you dont need ....

ADVICE: above is a rough concept. too apply concept read DL's post again.. and also you will have to fiddle about with the idea I suggest cos it wont just be right with 2 clicks.. but it should give you a great starting point!

lets us all know how you do and Welcome to the Asylum... ~Vp~

Well, perhaps I can provide you with some tools that might aid you.

If you just take some random airbrushings and run some distort filters, especially the wave filter, you might get some decent looking smoke.

Then mask it and paint away the edges.

Edit: VP, thanks for making me look like an ass, beating me with the post!
