I like the part on the right
I want some kind of explotion of the pixels , it's not the ray of light thing ( i have seen those tutorials on the board)

I'm no expert but this is what I think is going on...

With the Pen tool make the shapes. You may be able to make them in different directions or use the Radial Blur filter to get the effect. He may have used the Omni lighting in the center, but then again he could have copied the layer of the original and then Gaussin Blured it and set the layer to Color Dodge and then maybe another copy with Color Burn.

You will have to really play around with it, but this may give you something to work with.

Good luck

Really, I would suggest a 3d-oriented program for something like that. It can be modeled in a matter of seconds, then tweaked in photoshop.

Otherwise, the pen tool is your best option.

Another possibility is to make some vertical jagged rectanglish shapes and run polar coordinates on it. Still use the pen tool, though.

Once you create one layer of these shapes, you can play with duplicating, rotating, and blending modes in order to get a more detailed "explosion".

Hope this makes sense.

What about using the 3D Transform Filter to get a rough base skeleton, then cloning, resizing and rotating? I think I did that for something similar but more regular a while ago. Lemme see what I can whip up....

Me. Loony. 'nuff said.
