Hey roger... Here's some advice... GO F%#K YOURSELF!!!!

"errr.. nope.. thats a bit basic for these parts.. come back with a serious question "

There is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers. Thanks Roger for demonstrating just how stupid an answer can be.

To answer your question, colour theory is quite a complex subject indeed, something many people here in the asylum are very passionate about. I would suggest reading some of the articles over at Digital Web Magazine. I believe Twitch wrote some interesting articles on colour schemes there:

http://www.digital-web.com

If you prefer a more mathematical approach to colour theory then you should visit ZOX's web site on colour. The best web site on colour I've ever seen.

http://www.donaldj.com/colours/

I also believe Web Shaman was writing a tute about colour for the Guru?s Newtwork. I don't know if it's been finished yet though...

Come on you guys. Party a little too hard this weekend? Knee-jerk replies to a new member's question? Are we getting a little haughty now?

Pardon me, but I'm guessing that our friend (who I will refer to as YILL to save on typing) is referring to the indexed color mode color table, not color theory, not subliminal emotional manipulation via colors, not artsy-fartsy not "what colors are pretty together". Eh? Am I right?

In which case it quickly becomes pretty technical.

In which case, I for one don't have any first hand experiece. I know one technique for making fire-y stuff was to convert to indexed color mode with the "black body" option which was sorta cool. I also know that textile designers, wallpaper designers and other such trades can do pretty cool stuff with a limited pallette inside color table by changing a few of the colors in the table to something else - the structure of the images remains intact, but the colors can be modified dramatically almost effortlessly and extremely accurately. Obviously works best on images with a limited number of colors and little or no antialiasing.

Oh well - that's a round abut way of saying "no, I don't have any favorite tables".
And wasn't this a clever way of making the question sound impressive, even if this wasn't the question YILL was asking?

okay.... i guess i should clairify my question a little more.
I was wondering if anyone had made their own COLOR TABLES, as in Black Body etc.... I was just fooling around with them and was wondering if the kind loonies here at the asylum had some custom ones that i would enjoy fooling around with. Does that help?
thanks steve & drac & roger too

Don`t know about anybody else. but if I need a custom color table. in the same interface as * Black Body * I click the first color box, and drag it to ,say, the fourth row, right side.
It will then ask you to pick two colors. The first will be iin the first box you clicked, the second, in the last, with a gradient in between. Repeat as necessary to complete your table.

It`s kind of image specific, so I haven`t used any more than once. Usually just make one, use it and throw it away.but you can save your custom tables, too.

Sorry if that`s too basic an answer, Roger, but being a lesbian trapped in a man`s body, I don`t have a problem with the nick, or the question.

The only stupid question is the one you don`t ask.

The more I learn about people, the more I like my computer.
